What is Chaga?

What is Chaga?

Published by Bridgitte Longshore on 8th Jan 2024

Chaga is a medicinal mushroom that typically grows on birch trees in parts of Canada, Scandinavia, Russia and Japan. Our Chaga is harvested only from living trees in northern Ontario, and only from areas that have NOT been sprayed with glyphosate (or other chemicals).

Chaga is well known for its powerful antioxidant properties. Chaga is also an adaptogen, which help increase the body's resistance to physical, biological, and chemical stress, and protect against stress-related damage. Ingesting Chaga (in tea and/or extract form) may also help to reduce inflammation and purify the blood. These are only a few reasons why Chaga is known to be one of the most powerful mushrooms on earth!

Chaga is also known to be anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, contains Vitamin D, B vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes, flavonoids (a phytochemical), amino acids, and minerals such as calcium, potassium, copper, manganese, zinc, iron and more.

Whether you’re desiring to amp up your tea game, fighting a cold, feeling stressed out, or fighting disease, Chaga may well be your perfect local plant medicine superfood of choice. Keep in mind that mushrooms are powerful, and a little goes a long way so don’t overdo it. We always suggest you exercise common sense caution when introducing any new food into your diet, especially a powerful food! Read and follow the instructions provided on the label.

* Chaga is known to be a natural blood thinner. Ensure to speak to your pharmacist/doctor before using this mushroom if you are on medication.

We love our Chaga for many reasons, but mostly because we personally know our harvester and know he sustainably harvests only from living trees (very important to maximize nutrition). Also super important is that the Chaga is properly dried to ensure no mold growth during storage (Chaga loses about 60% of its weight during drying). Our Chaga is also certified organic and Canadian lab tested.

You can enjoy our Chaga in multiple ways. We offer Chaga Tea in 100g and 255g units, 100 ml dual extract tincture, and a 80% Chaga dark chocolate! Check out our Chaga goods and other fantastic offerings 24/7 at giddyyo.com!
